Write A Little Mo…

The MOdown

You can probably tell from my blog title that my name is Mo and I am a writer.  I am also a librarian at a rural elementary school that educates children from JK to Grade 8, so you can see my love of writing comes from a very strong love of reading.

I have been married to C.C. for nearly 16 years, and we have two girls: 12 year-old Bug and 10 year-old Bun.  We also have a lovable Golden Retriever named Reggie.

Other facts about me:

  • I was born in Malta.
  • I have lived in Canada nearly all my life.
  • My favourite colour is blue.
  • My favourite season is spring.
  • I am definitely a dog person.
  • Favourite reads: Lord of the Rings trilogy, The Mists of Avalon, The Princess Bride, The Hitchhiker’s Guide to the Galaxy, The Tomorrow Series (John Marsden), Lyonesse Trilogy (Jack Vance),  Airborn (Kenneth Oppel), Skybreaker (same) and on and on…
  • Guilty pleasures: Dr. Who, Heroes, Jericho, Rick Mercer and Stephen Colbert.
  • To be continued….

Although I am a librarian:

  • I do not wear my hair in a bun – but I do change the colour every chance I get!
  • I do not keep my eyeglasses on a chain around my neck (they are usually on top of my head).
  • I don’t dress demurely in grey wool skirts that go past the knee with matching jacket and plain white tailored blouses.  I prefer to dress comfortably, but stylishly – although I guess I should admit to wearing sensible shoes (bad feet).
  • I am not in the habit of shushing – unless it gets really loud in the library.
  • I am very sociable – most librarians I know are.  It’s those librarians in the movies that give us a bad name – except for Rachel Weisz in The Mummy – she was a cool librarian!
  • Sometimes I am a bit kooky – but the kids love it!
